It all started in the 1990s, when the founder of Kim L Guitarworks, Kim Larsson, was a child playing with his dad’s stereo. All the cables, buttons and controls were fascinating. “How is it possible that this knob changes the amount of bass in the sound?”
The interest continued, and as a teenager, Kim started playing electric guitar. But the question of how a knob could affect the sound remained unanswered. And how does a tube amplifier actually work?
To truly get to the bottom of these questions, Kim earned a Master of Science in Engineering, and a master´s degree in electrical engineering, with a focus on audio and signal processing.
For more than 10 years, Kim worked on developing software for music production, working with world-leading brands such as Marshall and ENGL.
Wanting to understand how things work and being able to create them himself led Kim to start building electric guitars. These guitars quickly compared to considerably more expensive commercial instruments. As he began to feel that he was truly starting to understand the craft, he founded Larsson Guitars, which later became Kim L Guitarworks.
